Quilt Market Recap

 Quilt Market Recap

Each May, Quilt Market finds us in a different city than the year before and this time it was Pittsburgh that played host with the quilting industry descending on the city for a week. We brought a crew excited to show off our newest releases to shop owners, pattern designers and other industry professionals.  Do you want a peek, too? Join us for a virtual tour of our booth, with new releases and patterns along the way.

Ann Kelle has added to her Remix collection with new houndstooth, plus-sign and polka dot designs. Full of bright colors and happy messages, her booth was perfect for market meetings. Plus it gave us a chance to talk about her fabulous new mustache print, along with houndstooth and anchors, that are now available on our Laguna Print Jersey.

Girl Friends Quilt {free pattern}

Since Ann Kelle first introduced the Girl Friends back in the fall of 2012, she has continued making the cutest little girls available on fabric. Mermaids, ballerinas, princesses and now, with sweet little wings, there are fairies! Mixing Kona Cotton solids and Remix chevrons and dots while spotlighting the Girl Friends collection, the quilt is a cheerful burst of girliness.

Designed by Erica Jackman of Kitchen Table Quilting, the Girl Friends quilt uses paper piecing for accurate points and finishes at 55 1/2" by 68 1/2" (lap size).

You can download the free pattern from our website, as well as dozens of other quilt and project patterns. Happy quilting!

Modern Take on Retro Christmas

Have you seen Cynthia Frenette's Retro Christmas collection? With a fun, mid-century modern flair, the fabric is in stores now and perfect for holiday projects. Cynthia finished hers with plenty of time to spare.

Made entirely with English paper-piecing, Cynthia used Brioni Greenberg's Heaven and Hex pattern. If you're feeling brave enough to tackle it, you can find in Fat Quarterly, issue 13.

After all that handwork, Cynthia took it to the machine to quilt, using Aurifil 50wt. thread in Turquoise (5005) and stitching it so that it ends up with circles and flowers.

Beautiful, right? And finished with time to spare!  For more on her quilt-making process, check out Cynthia's blog: http://cynthiaf.ca
