Kona Color Contest!

Guess what!?

We're looking to add more colors to the Kona® range later this year & we want your help!!

Right now we offer over 200 colors of Kona® Cotton Solids. We've had a lot of fun making Kona fabric treats over the years. Take a look at these ads from 2008.

We've got even more goodies planned for 2011 - here's a sneaky *little* peek!

And now, some eye candy to get you inspired!

How you can help/WIN!

We want to know – What color or colors do you think we are missing in our Kona range?

Tell us between now and March 17th, and we’ll randomly choose & announce 5 winners March 18th. Each winner will receive a set of all five Kona charm packs!

To enter leave a comment with your idea.  Please make sure you leave your contact info in your entry or a link to your blog.  You can also write a blog post with your idea if you want to elaborate more on the color or colors you want to see and why.

I'd say oranges and reds. There seems to be a more gradual change in color in the blues, for instance, but with the oranges there isn't a lof of gradation (is that the right word?!). Great idea - I can't wait to see the new colors!

I would love to see two colors specifically - a gorgeous yellow gold that simmers in the sun like an old Italian house in Tuscany, and a rich ruddy rust color that slowly fades a bit grayish in the evening like a Italian farmhouse does in the twilight hours.

More greens, yellows, greys, and oranges.

I agree with all of the comments on the swatch cards.

Oranges definitely, Grays, sure. Red violet is a weak point. But if one takes a look at your color chart and does the "squint test", there are plenty of lights and mediums but the dark values are not nearly as well represented.

More grays and oranges please!

I am seeing (and buying) a lot of yellow green prints. Solid yellow greens to go with these would be nice.
I also feel you can never have too many yellows. My favorite color is yellow and I am always buying them.
Also a soft white. Thank you for asking.
And put color suggestions for using Kona Cotton solids that match, in with your collections.

I think you have so many great colors. I would like to see a little better range of oranges and browns. Thanks for the opportunity to win! =)

More oranges and grays. Oranges are so difficult to match- some are too yellow, some too red. A great variation in color saturation would be perfect! Grays are really popular right now as a neutral and I think they would be a great addition.

More oranges for sure! My younger customers are always looking for oranges--it's a very hip color in often gray Portland, OR!

I like the idea someone said of matching solids to fabric lines that come out.

I agree about the oranges, would love more of those. Would also love darker fushias and pinks.

Thanks! :o)

I can't say what color you need, I would just like to see them re-packaged into Fat Quarter bundles of 9, 12, 16 & 20 FQ that make up the colors of some of these "Fresh Modern" quilts. Lots of funky contrasts, oranges with purples, lime greens and bubble gum pinks, with plenty of white thrown in here and there, that kind of thing. The reason for the bundles is that's what I use to make my quilts, and I use them in those numbers for each size quilt. Thanks for asking!

It's funny to think with that many colors that there would be a few missing. :) I personally would love to see more shades of grey. The Ash color is phenomenal, but I'd love to see more that go from the palest greys to really dark.

And definitely some more pretty oranges and yellows that don't fit right in with a construction zone. I'm thinking oranges with pink undertones and soft golden yellows that aren't pastels.

I agree with the people who have said orange. I'm looking for a fabric in this weird dark orange at the moment, and having very little luck!

Personally, I could always use more in the green/teal/aqua range, but you know, I was working on a child's quilt, using lots of Kona charms and roll up strips, and felt there was a lot lacking in the orange department. So give me orange!

I'm would love to see some more saturated bright/neon colors across the board in oranges, pinks, yellows, greens, and blues (especially paired with some subtle neutrals such as creme, blush, pink, and light grey). I also agree that a more diverse grey palette would be great with warms and cools. A rich, warm charcoal would be lovely.

I love rust . Afew more shades of rust would be great!

more cool greys

I agree about the oranges, the cross-reference to new and existing print collections; and I'd like to see something to add to the basic card when the new colors come out!
March 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLinda
How about a new color that goes with each new collection/colorway.
March 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKathy Howard
I would love to see more orange tones. You have so many amazing shades but we could use a pumpkin orange color. Toned greys (purple-grey, green-grey) would also be an excellent addition to the line. Thank you for all the work you do and the contest!

Brighter hues of yellow and different huex/ranges of browns and greens

More oranges, teals, turquoise, browns. Super brights in green, yellow, pink, and blue. Thanks.

I would like to see more purples, yellows . like bright colors that make your quilt pop and Kona solids help do this.
